Georges Valmier made this untitled painting with oils. I love the flat application of color here, the way the forms interlock like pieces of a puzzle, almost fighting for space. It makes me think about the act of painting itself—how does the artist decide what goes where? How much to reveal, or conceal? The composition feels both intentional and improvisational. The zigzags and curves create a rhythm across the canvas. The colors—blues, reds, grays—are bold, yet somehow balanced. I imagine Valmier experimenting, shifting shapes, adjusting colors, maybe stepping back, squinting, and then diving back in, brush in hand. Each stroke building on the last, slowly coaxing the painting into being. It's a testament to the power of abstraction and geometry. It makes me feel excited to see what new visual languages painters will invent.
