Elina Brotherus made this photograph, "One Minute Sculpture with Erwin Wurm. Carry and Levitate," as a short performance, a captured moment. It’s like a painterly gesture, but with real people and real gravity! Look at the tension in their bodies, the way they lean into each other, searching for balance. The color palette is subdued, almost monochromatic, except for the bright orange sweater. That pop of color draws your eye, it speaks to the energy, the hidden effort of holding this pose. It's like a visual fulcrum, the point around which the whole image pivots. It makes me think of other artists who explore the body in space, like Erwin Wurm himself, or maybe even some of the Fluxus artists. Ultimately, it's a reminder that art can be found in the everyday, in the simple act of being together, off balance and making something fleeting and beautiful.
