Jeremy Moon made "Golden Age" and bathed it in a glowing, light-infused yellow, like sunshine held captive on a wall. I can only imagine what it was like for Moon to be so bold, slapping down this vast field of color. He must have felt something magical when he hit on that right tone, that certain yellow that just vibrates! There's a deceptive simplicity here. But the evenness of the paint, the texture, whispers of a slow, meditative process. It’s not just about the yellow; it’s about the act of painting itself, the decisions made, the touch of the brush. How to make it sing? Moon was clearly in conversation with the color field painters of his day. He was part of something bigger, a lineage of artists pushing the limits of what paint could do, and how it could make us feel. Painting is always an experiment, right? It's ongoing, imperfect, and open to all sorts of possibilities!
