Alexander Bogen made this “Composition in Blue II” with paint, but what kind and when I can’t be sure. The blues feel like a mood, or maybe an ocean at night, but then those little flecks of red and green pop like hidden lights. I find myself wondering what was Bogen thinking? Maybe art doesn't need to tell us exactly what to think, but instead opens up a space for feeling. Look closely, and you'll see the paint isn’t flat; it’s got texture, like the canvas is breathing. I feel like he mixed the colors right on the canvas, letting them blend and fight, a little like a conversation with the painting. There's something about the way the blues pull you in, and then those small areas of warmer hues push back—it’s a reminder that even in darkness, there’s always a spark. This reminds me of Rothko, but more agitated, like a storm. Art isn't about answers; it's about the questions and the feelings they stir up.
