Joseph Pace made this painting, IDM – #245, with what looks like acrylic paint, judging from the glossy finish and bright, bold colours. I love how Pace dives right into the thick of it, layering colours and textures like he’s got nothing to lose. The surface is a playground of splatters, drips, and controlled chaos. I’m drawn to the way Pace uses black lines to create a sense of depth and movement, like vines snaking through a neon jungle. The orange bar at the top feels like a horizon line, grounding the whole composition. It's as if the whole thing is barely held together. This piece reminds me a little of Cy Twombly's wild abandon mixed with the raw energy of early street art. But Pace definitely brings his own flavor to the mix. It’s a reminder that art is always in conversation with itself, a constant remix of ideas and inspirations.
