Curatorial notes

Dragan Ilić Di Vogo painted "Speed" with what looks like oil and maybe some mixed media, building up layers of images and figures. This isn’t just a picture; it’s a whole world unfolding, right before our eyes. Look at the way Di Vogo blends these hazy washes with crisply rendered figures. The little boy's face in the foreground is so detailed, almost photographic. Then, behind him, all these faces and symbols sort of emerge from the mist. The brushstrokes are loose and free, giving the painting this dreamy, almost surreal quality. See the red car at the bottom? It’s like a symbol of ambition cutting through the swirling chaos. There's a fluidity to it, a sense that nothing is fixed. It reminds me of some of Francis Picabia’s later work, how he layered images and played with different styles to create these complex, almost dizzying compositions. Like Di Vogo, Picabia was never content to stick to one way of seeing or painting.
