Twins Seven Seven made "He and She - Baby in Blue" with ink on board. The colours vibrate—orange, turquoise, pink—but are held in check with densely packed patterning. It feels like a dance, a rhythm that might have emerged organically, where one mark gives way to the next, through layers and variations. I imagine Twins Seven Seven starting with a single line, maybe the outline of the birds, and then intuitively building from there. It’s like jazz. Colour is important here, but maybe secondary to the patterns. It’s interesting that the birds contain humans and humans contain birds—like consciousness is passed down from the natural world. Look closely, near the bottom there are a couple of babies in shells. This work reminds me of the Pattern and Decoration movement, though with much more intensity. And even though the forms are clearly representational, the overall effect is more about energy and interconnection than it is about telling a straightforward story. It suggests that creative inspiration is a collaborative conversation across time.
