This untitled piece by Jeremy Moon is all hard lines, and it feels like an exercise in pure color relationships. The painting's surface is smooth, almost machine-like, which makes the colors do all the talking. There's a grid of golden-yellow lines slicing through these soft blocks of color; pinks, purples, greys, whites, like a sweet shop that's been through some kind of minimalist filter. The whole thing feels like a puzzle, and the way that grid cuts across the colors makes it hard to know if there’s a code to crack or not. Jeremy Moon’s work often plays with geometry and color, reminding me a bit of Sol LeWitt’s wall drawings, which, in a similar way, invite us to see the beauty in simple structures, and the endless possibilities within them. It's all about seeing how colors and shapes bump up against each other, creating these subtle but powerful vibes.
