Editor: So this is Leon Kossoff’s "From Constable: Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadows (plate 2)". It’s an etching, and the frenetic lines create a really turbulent mood. What's your interpretation? Curator: Kossoff’s choice to revisit Constable is fascinating. Constable's original romanticized the English landscape, but Kossoff’s version feels almost dystopian. How does that contrast speak to the changing role of the church and rural life across time? Editor: That's a great point! It definitely prompts a discussion about societal shifts and the evolving perception of institutions. Curator: Exactly. And considering the printmaking process, how does the medium itself – the multiple lines, the potential for mass production – influence our understanding of the sacred? We often focus too much on the artist and not enough on the process. Editor: I never thought about that, but you’re right. It adds another layer of complexity. Thanks!
