This collection of gelatin silver prints was compiled by an anonymous artist at an unknown date, perhaps to document scenes from everyday life. When you look at the images, what do you notice about the subjects' body language, what do their faces tell you? What kinds of stories might the artist be trying to tell? In some pictures, the people are posing, and in others, they're caught more off guard. It seems like the artist is trying to capture different aspects of life, whether it's formal or just a candid moment. I can imagine them carefully composing each shot, thinking about light and shadow, waiting for the perfect moment to press the shutter, trying to say something about how they see the world. There’s a story being told, and the artist, in their own way, is pulling us in.
