Tony Feher made this 'Untitled' piece by stacking a bunch of colorful boxes. It's kinda cool how simple it is, right? There's something really satisfying about the way Feher uses these ordinary materials and transforms them. Each box is painted a different, vibrant color on the inside, which gives the whole sculpture a playful, almost childlike quality. I find myself wondering about the textures, the rough cardboard against the smooth paint and how the light catches those colors. That bottom box, with its gradient from red to pink, is a great focal point. It shows how a simple gesture with paint can create depth and interest. It reminds me a bit of early Judd but in a more ramshackle way, as if to say, let's not get too precious about all this. Let’s instead embrace a certain casualness. Art should be fun, right?
