This is a print of two women in dresses, made in Paris in 1923, and it’s all about the process of looking and noticing details. There’s a playful mix of textures and colors that jump out – the way the dresses look flat, yet the patterns suggest layers and depth. The one on the left has this amazing green fabric with tiny figures, almost like hieroglyphs. I love how the artist embraces flatness, almost like a collage, but still gives you enough to imagine the fabric flowing. Look at the edges of the figures – sharp and defined, but the colors bleed a bit. It feels immediate and intimate, like the artist is inviting you into their studio. This reminds me a bit of Matisse, who also used flat planes of color to create dynamic and vibrant compositions. What do you think?
