This is a page from a photo album by Carolina Onnen, called Loentje, showing her with kids on a beach. I can really relate to this. When you're working from life, you have to make quick decisions, and sometimes the composition is not ideal. But that's okay! It adds to the immediacy. Look at the way Loentje cropped the photo to capture the essentials—the figures standing at the shore, the dog sitting in the sand. I wonder what it was like to be there on that day. The quality of light, the breeze. It's interesting how the artist captures the fleeting moments of everyday life, like the way the children are posed, and the beach stretching out in the background. It’s all about the artist's curiosity and vision. We’re so lucky that artists preserve these moments in time. Their vision makes the world a richer place.
