Alfred Krupa made this piece called "My cat" at some point using ink. The cool thing about ink is how fluid and unpredictable it can be, kinda like cats themselves. See how Krupa lets the ink bleed and pool in certain areas, creating these deep, dark shadows that give the cat a sense of weight and form? But then, he also uses these really delicate, almost wispy lines to suggest the cat's fur and the soft curves of its body. There's one spot, right near the cat's head, where the ink is super concentrated, almost like a little puddle. It draws your eye in and makes you focus on the cat's face, even though it's mostly obscured. It reminds me a bit of some of Matisse's line drawings. Like Matisse, Krupa embraces the simplicity of line to capture the essence of his subject. It's like a dance between control and chance.
