José de Rivera made this sculpture, Black, Yellow, Red, from painted aluminum. Notice how the shapes aren't trying to mimic anything real. It's like he’s playing with forms and colours in a way that feels totally free. The bright, bold colours grab your attention right away, don’t they? The way the yellow swoops and curves contrasting with the solid red and black areas – there’s a real energy there. I love how you can almost feel the artist bending and shaping the metal, deciding where each form should go. There’s this one spot, where the yellow meets the black, it's like a little conversation happening between them. This reminds me a lot of Alexander Calder's mobiles, which are similarly playful. It’s all about finding the balance, figuring out how different elements can work together to create something new and exciting. And isn't that what art—and life—is all about?
