Lala Eve Rivol made this print called *Petroglyph - Human Figures*, but we don't know exactly when. I love the muted sienna and indigo color palette. It looks like Lala carefully aligned shapes and figures in a grid, each telling its own story, like a visual poem. I can imagine Lala bent over the printing stone, carefully carving each line, each shape, thinking about ancient stories, about the human desire to leave a mark. What did she make of those original markings? I’m drawn to the figure with arms outstretched – is it a greeting, an offering, or a plea? The texture of the print makes me feel like I am touching the stone itself, connecting me to the hands that created these images. Thinking about Lala and other artists who draw from history, from the earth, makes me want to grab a brush and join the conversation. It’s one big, ongoing game of telephone, isn’t it?
