"Lacquer Room" is an 18th-century design for a room decoration by Dutch artist Elias van Nijmegen. The oval design features intricate rococo floral patterns and scrolls in shades of gold and silver against a pale red background. The design is likely a template for a decorative painted ceiling or wall, suggesting the popularity of the rococo style in interior design during the period. The symmetrical composition of the artwork also speaks to the classical influences during this time, showcasing how artistic movements often blended with historical traditions.

This room was made for the Court of the Stadholders at Leeuwarden. It formed part of the apartment of the consort of the Frisian stadholder, Princess Albertine Agnes of Orange and Nassau. The walls are mounted with Chinese screens of Coromandel lacquer. In this enchanting room, filled with exotic furniture and porcelain, the princess liked to drink tea from China.
