Serge Brignoni made this oceanic mirage with gouache, and it’s kind of like stumbling upon a secret language. Look at the way Brignoni layers semi-transparent washes, like memories fading into each other. The surface feels almost like skin, doesn't it? There's a red circle that hovers on the left-hand figure, not quite attached, more like an aura or a thought bubble. It doesn’t feel accidental, but completely intuitive. The effect is so strange, playful, and deeply felt. It reminds me a bit of Paul Klee’s dreamlike imagery, but Brignoni has a unique voice. It's like he’s reminding us that art isn't about answers, it's about the questions we ask, and the spaces in between.
