Editor: Here we have Turner's "Interior of a Church," and what strikes me most is the contrast between the grandeur of the architecture and the smallness of the figures. How do you interpret that interplay? Curator: Ah, Turner, always the poet of light and space! I see here a meditation on faith, perhaps. Those soaring arches—do they lift your spirit? They whisper of the divine, while the tiny congregants remind us of our humble place within it all. Does the sepia tone enhance a sense of solemnity for you? Editor: It definitely gives it a kind of aged feel. I hadn't thought of it as a statement about faith, more about architecture. Curator: Perhaps it's both, then, a dialogue between the earthly and the ethereal, wouldn't you say? Editor: I think I agree. Thanks for opening my eyes to that! Curator: My pleasure! Turner always leaves room for our own interpretations, doesn't he?
