Alevtyna Kakhidze's 'Untitled. Srawberry Andreevna' seems to have been made with marker pen, maybe even crayon, on paper. It's a drawing that feels incredibly immediate, like a thought made visible. The palette is minimal, mostly black lines defining shapes, with touches of red and blue that pop out like little surprises. Look at how the lines wobble and thicken, especially around the figure's outline. It’s this kind of vulnerability, this raw edge, that gives the piece its emotional punch. It's the kind of gesture you might see in the work of someone like Philip Guston, where the clumsiness becomes a form of honesty. Take the heart drawn on the figures chest, it's off center, slightly awkward, but so full of feeling. It's the kind of mark that speaks volumes about imperfection and the beauty of being human. It’s not about getting it 'right', but about the act of expression itself, which is something I think about a lot in my own work.
