Editor: Here we have Nemanja Vučković's "The Inner State of Mind," created in 2017 using acrylic paint. It's a wild splash of colours and textures, very vibrant, but I also see an area in dark colors like black dominating the top half... it feels almost oppressive. What do you see in this piece? Curator: Oppressive is a strong word, and, yes, I agree; there’s definitely a tension. Look how that forceful darkness bleeds down, almost suffocating that energetic burst of yellow. It reminds me of trying to hold onto joy when sadness looms. Have you ever felt that push and pull in your own creative process? Editor: Absolutely. Sometimes the energy flows and other times it's a real struggle. So, you see the dark area as sadness? Curator: Not *just* sadness, perhaps. It’s more like… the shadow self. The part of us we often try to hide, yet it inevitably seeps into our conscious expression. And look at those vibrant greens… almost like a forced cheerfulness fighting against the inevitable. It's all quite a potent brew of emotions, isn’t it? A visual representation of an internal battlefield. Editor: That's a really interesting perspective. I hadn't considered it in that way. The “shadow self” idea makes a lot of sense when you consider the title. It also shifts my view from finding the painting only ‘oppressive.’ Curator: That's the joy of art, isn’t it? A constant shifting of perspective, an unveiling of new layers within ourselves. This work acts as a powerful mirror, forcing us to confront our own inner landscapes, with both the bright meadows and the looming shadows. Editor: Well, now I'll never look at this painting the same way again.
