Mind 2016

Nemanja Vučković made "Mind", a 50 x 70 cm painting, and looking at it, I see someone unafraid of yellow. A whole world seems to be erupting here! There's something really juicy about the way Vučković layers the paint. It's like he's digging in, getting messy, and letting the process dictate the form. The yellow is so dominant, but then you get these scratches of black cutting through, creating a real sense of tension. It's not just about the colors themselves but the way they’re fighting and dancing together. Take a look at those sharp black lines, especially around the center. They feel almost frantic, like the artist is trying to capture a thought as it races through their head. Then, the smudges of white and blue soften things, adding a dreamy, unfocused quality. It reminds me a little bit of Cy Twombly's work, but with a sunnier disposition. I think what’s so great about abstract painting is that it's always a conversation.
