Pablo Palazuelo made this "Mandala" using oil paint, and right away, you can see how he’s pushing the boundaries of form, like he’s trying to build a new visual language. The stark contrast between the deep black background and the bone-colored shapes makes everything feel sharper, more defined. Look at how the paint is applied, thinly layered, almost like he’s sketching with color. There’s this angular shape in the lower part of the work, and it catches the light in a way that makes it seem almost… dangerous. Like a shard of glass or a freshly sharpened blade. Palazuelo is playing with geometry but also with something deeper, something primal. Agnes Martin and her reduced grid paintings come to mind when I look at this, although Palazuelo feels more raw, more visceral, a bit more… him. Art isn’t about answers; it's about the questions we ask along the way, the feelings we stir up, and the conversations we start.
