This gold armband of a narrow model was made by Dutch Chain Works. It's interesting how this piece, even though it’s made of rigid metal, has a kind of squishy, organic feel, like a row of interconnected bones or segments. The gold is so smooth and reflective. It invites you to touch it, to feel the coolness of the metal against your skin. Each link is meticulously crafted, creating a rhythm and a sense of movement along the chain. The way the light catches the curves and edges of each link really emphasizes the quality of the craftsmanship. Looking at it, I’m reminded of Eva Hesse's sculptures, where she used industrial materials in a way that felt deeply personal and human. This piece shares that tension between the mechanical and the organic, the hard and the soft. It’s a reminder that art, in all its forms, is a conversation across time and media, always pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
