This gold bracelet with its diamond-shaped links was made by Fabriek van Bijouteriën Drijfhout & Zoon. The design is clean, almost industrial, with each rhombus precisely formed, linked, and polished. Looking at it, I’m reminded of Eva Hesse’s sculptures, where repetition and subtle variation create a mesmerizing rhythm. Here, the bracelet’s links catch the light differently, revealing the subtle textures and imperfections of the gold. The surface isn't perfectly smooth, it’s got a slightly matte finish, almost like it's been worn down by time, telling a story of use and touch. I like to imagine how it feels against the skin, cool and heavy. It's interesting how something functional can also be so visually compelling. Maybe that’s what connects it to contemporary art - a shared interest in exploring the boundaries between form and function.
