This is a page of pasted-down photographs from an unknown date by an anonymous artist. The two photographs speak of a world of privilege, don't they? The sepia tones evoke nostalgia, like a half-remembered dream. I imagine the artist carefully selecting and arranging these images, each a fragment of a story. You know, it reminds me a little of Gerhard Richter’s Atlas project, where he compiled photographs, news clippings, and sketches. The way one image relates to the other is so interesting: the photograph on the left depicts Guly Boissevain, who is on horseback, and the other photograph depicts a boy named Dany with a woman. What is the relationship between these people? The act of pasting these photos on the page, preserving them, is itself a creative gesture. This scrapbook page is more than just a collection of photos, it becomes a kind of painting, made of memories and moments, isn't it?
