Tsukioka Yoshitoshi created this woodblock print titled "Shiei Riding a Carp over the Sea" sometime in the late 19th century. We see the fluid lines of the dark sea swirling in the background. The carp, rendered in meticulous detail and bold red, forms a vibrant focal point.
