Here we have a sculpture of Bryggeritekniker Max Henius by Anders Bundgaard, but we don't know exactly when it was made or what it's made of, but it seems to be some sort of clay-like material, maybe plaster. I love seeing the artist's process, and here you really can. Bundgaard has left his fingerprints all over the surface, which is lovely. You can see how he built up the form, adding and subtracting material. Look at the way he's captured the texture of the suit, those little striations. And the hands! They're so expressive, even though they're just lumps of clay. For me, this piece is really about touch, about the artist's hand and the way he's shaped the material. It reminds me of Rodin, who also left his fingerprints all over his sculptures. It makes you think about the physicality of artmaking, and the way that artists can imbue their work with their own energy and personality. It's like a conversation across time, a dialogue between artists about the nature of form and the power of touch.
