This anonymous, blue and white porcelain jar with a lid is a fine example of 17th and 18th century Chinese porcelain. The jar, made in the Kangxi period (1662-1722), is decorated with flower scrolls and lappet borders in underglaze blue. This style is known as "famille rose," and the floral motifs are characteristic of the Kangxi period. The jar, now in the collection of the Rijksmuseum, is a beautiful example of the exquisite craftsmanship and artistry of Chinese porcelain during this time.
