Vajda Lajos made this drawing called *Whirling Space* in 1940, and it’s all about these tiny, swirling marks that kind of pull you in. It feels like looking into a vortex, right? The whole surface is covered in these tight, nervous lines, almost like hair, or maybe even the inside of someone’s head. It's just brown ink on paper, but it feels so alive and agitated. There's this one spot, near the top, where the lines get really dense, forming these dark, spiraling shapes, like eyes staring back at you. It’s a bit unsettling, but also totally mesmerizing. You know, looking at this, I'm reminded of some of Alfred Kubin’s ink drawings, that same sense of dreamlike unease. But Vajda’s got his own thing going on. It feels like he's trying to capture something that can't quite be put into words.
