This is Loentje Onnen’s photograph with friends in a garden in Hilversum, and when I look at it, I think about how photographs are a way of freezing time, not just for us, but for the people in the picture. Look at the way the sepia tones wash over everything, softening the edges, making the light feel almost palpable. There's a real warmth here, a sense of place and connection. The figures are arranged casually, like a snapshot from life. And the way the greenery frames them, its like the garden itself is reaching out to embrace them. It reminds me of some of Corot’s landscapes. Both artists use a similar palette and value tone to create a soft, hazy effect. The way Onnen captures this fleeting moment of friendship reminds us that art is always an exchange, a conversation across time and space. It's about feeling, about seeing the world in new ways.
