This untitled set of photographs, shows two portraits and a tea table in the garden. It was pasted into a photo album by an unknown photographer at an unknown date. I'm drawn to how the images are arranged, like a painting where the composition and the surface of the album page is as important as the images themselves. It's cool how the formal presentation in the album transforms them from snapshots into something more composed and intentional, almost like minimalist grids of Sol LeWitt. The monochromatic palette and the texture of the album page make me think of the tactility of painting, and the way the images float on the page like brushstrokes. This arrangement reminds me that photography, like painting, involves a lot of decision making, in terms of light, composition, and framing. It’s a reminder that all images are constructs, not just copies of reality. I see this piece as part of an ongoing conversation about how we see and represent the world.
