Jack Armstrong’s ‘Cosmic Golden Dream’ feels like it was made with molten gold, flowing and solidifying into sunflowers before our very eyes. Imagine Armstrong there in his studio, pushing and pulling this viscous, gleaming material across the canvas. What kind of tools did he use? A palette knife seems likely for this kind of texture. I can almost feel the weight of the paint, heavy with intent. Is it me, or do you also see Klimt in there, maybe a little Van Gogh, a lineage of artists chasing light and texture? Each sunflower almost vibrates with energy, their petals reaching out like flames. They are not just still lives, but cosmic entities, each one throbbing with the pulse of the universe. It reminds you that painting can offer us new ways to see, feel, and experience the world. It's like he’s saying: "Hey, look at what this medium can do!"
