Jack Armstrong's "Cosmic Goddess" is an immersion in reds, golds, and swirling energy, possibly made with acrylics and other media on canvas. I'm just imagining Armstrong building up layer upon layer, each stroke a kind of ecstatic addition. There's this furious energy, little eruptions of color, like he's trying to capture the feeling of cosmic forces at play. And then, these white lines cut through it all like shooting stars. I wonder if he was thinking about earlier painters like Van Gogh, his own mark-making a kind of homage to those swirling skies? You know, painting is this conversation across time. Each of us grappling with what it means to make a mark, to express something that words just can't capture. It's about being brave enough to embrace the unknown, to let the painting lead you, even when you're not sure where you're going.
