Gene Luedke made this Homespun Bedspread, but when exactly, well, that's anyone's guess! The palette is like faded echoes of folk art, pinks and blues trying to peek through a screen of history. Look closely, and you'll see it's all about the surface, the texture, the touch of the hand that made it. Is it paint, is it ink? The weave underneath feels like a ghost, as if the image emerged slowly, layer by layer, like a memory. I love how the shapes repeat, those little swirls, the borders like a half-remembered dream. And right there, that bird, it’s like a tiny emblem of something, maybe hope, maybe just the maker’s imagination taking flight. It's kind of like the work of Joseph Yoakum, where the landscape becomes a state of mind. Art is about letting go, about finding new ways to see the world, and letting the world see you.
