Boat-shaped bowl 2000

Here's a boat-shaped bowl by Maren Kloppmann, and it makes me think about the sea... or maybe a spaceship, who knows! It's got this smooth, continuous form in a range of warm, earthy colours, from pinky rose to sandy gold. I can imagine Kloppmann working on this piece, coaxing the clay into this elegant form, smoothing the surface, and playing with the glaze to get that subtle variation in color. It makes me wonder about the conversations happening in her studio, or with other ceramic artists? The process is an ongoing exploration, a conversation between artist, medium, and the history of art itself. It's about embracing the journey, with all its twists and turns.
