This shallow dish was made by Kimura Nobuyuki, but when exactly, nobody knows! It's crafted from glazed stoneware. The way the celadon blue glaze pools and thins reveals an intuitive process. There's something deeply satisfying about the texture. It's not quite smooth, not quite rough, but somewhere in between, like a well-loved stone you find on the beach. And that rim, that little line of brown peeking through, it's like the horizon line, a subtle but crucial detail that anchors the whole piece. Look closely, you can see tiny variations in the glaze, each one a record of the artist's touch. This piece reminds me of Lucie Rie. Both potters share a dedication to exploring the quiet potential of everyday objects, transforming the functional into the sublime. A form which embraces ambiguity and multiple interpretations.
