This document regarding Etienne Bosch, in ink on paper, is a great example of mark making as process. Look at the cursive script, elegant yet informal, where the pressure of the pen varies creating thicks and thins. The texture of the paper, aged and subtly discolored, is key. The writing itself is a dance of pressure and release, a record of the hand’s movement. Notice the way the ink bleeds slightly into the paper, giving the lines a soft, almost fuzzy edge. It’s like the words are breathing, expanding beyond their defined shapes. I love the weight of "Bosch", how it anchors the whole composition. Then, below it, the delicate loops and swirls of the address in Scheveningen. It reminds me of Cy Twombly's drawings, where writing becomes a form of abstract expression, or even Hanne Darboven. Art is such an ongoing conversation.
