This fragment of a terracotta kylix, a type of drinking cup, was created by the Athenian potter Epiktetos around 530 BC. The fragment shows a black-figure painted design, typical of the time, with a detail of a human figure, possibly a woman, with a red-orange hat and elaborate jewelry, and perhaps part of a floral design, possibly a vine or flower. The piece is now part of the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This type of fragment is a unique and interesting piece of ancient Greek art, and its preservation gives us insight into the craftsmanship and aesthetic preferences of the time.
