This is Gottfried Honegger's "Composition," and looking at it is like diving into a sea of blues and greens, made with what looks like acrylic. You can almost feel the texture, right? The way the green square sits on top of that deep blue is so physical, it's like he's building a world, not just painting one. The surface is rough and uneven, and I think you can see the marks he’s made with a palette knife, or something similar, scoring into the paint. That grid in the green square is especially interesting. It’s so precise, yet the texture underneath gives it this handmade, almost wabi-sabi feel. It reminds me a bit of Agnes Martin’s grids, but with a more earthy, grounded vibe.
