This silver medal, created by Dutch artist Nicolaas van Swinderen in 1747, commemorates the elevation of William IV to the position of Stadtholder. One side features a bust of William in profile, while the other side depicts a lion holding a sword and a scepter, representing the Stadtholder, along with the inscription "HOC AUSPICE FATO," which means "Under this auspice of fate," indicating the importance of destiny in this event. The medal, measuring only 2.5 cm in diameter, is a small but significant piece of art, reflecting the importance of William IV's ascension.
