Suzanne Duchamp, along with Jacques Villon, made this lithograph called ‘Pot of Flowers’ and it's a reminder that art’s not just about pretty pictures, it’s about process. Check out how she's broken down the vase into geometric shapes, a nod to Cubism maybe, but also a way of seeing the world not as it is, but as it could be. The flowers themselves are bursts of color, reds, yellows, blues, each petal a deliberate mark. It’s like she's saying, ‘Here’s a flower, but it’s also just paint’. The whole thing feels light and airy, like a spring day. Notice the ribbon-like squiggle at the top right. It doesn't quite resolve into a recognizable image. Look closely at that area; for me, it captures the spirit of playfulness that Duchamp brings to the piece as a whole. This piece reminds me of the work of Sonia Delaunay, who, like Duchamp, blended abstraction with everyday life. Both artists show us that art isn’t just about answers, it’s about questions.
