This object, “Reproduced Object”, was made by Rodrigo Franzao. It’s suspended in space, a kind of shimmering, woven form caught in a beam of light. The structure is fascinating – layers of material interwoven to create a moiré effect that almost vibrates. Look closely, and you’ll notice those delicate copper strands escaping at the bottom, like rebellious threads trying to break free. This tension between structure and chaos, the rigid and the fluid, gives the work a real sense of dynamism. The material itself feels so fragile, almost ephemeral, which contrasts so much with its architectural construction. It reminds me of the play between the monumental and the temporary in the work of Christo and Jeanne-Claude, or even some of Eva Hesse’s more delicate sculptures. Ultimately, though, Franzao creates something uniquely his own, a space for contemplation in the most unexpected materials.
