Edvard Munch made this painting of clothes on a line in Åsgårdstrand with oil paint, but he wasn’t afraid to let the painting be a painting. You can see his marks all over the place. The way he uses color—swirling greens and whites with touches of vibrant reds—it's less about depicting a scene and more about capturing a feeling, right? Look at the path of pink, how it carves through the green and leads your eye into the composition. And then there's that washing line, strung with these bright white rectangles. That one daub of deep purple in the lower right really makes me wonder if he was looking at Van Gogh. It’s the kind of painting that reminds you that art is more about asking questions than giving answers.
