Sasza Blonder made this painting of a landscape with a red house, date unknown, probably with oils on some kind of canvas board. I really admire the way Blonder's put down these juicy strokes. See how the strokes are all marching in the same direction, kind of angled up toward the right? I'm wondering if that gives the whole scene a feeling of upward mobility. I mean, there's so much optimism baked into these colors. That bright red roof of the house against the greens and yellows of the landscape! What’s going on in that house? What’s going on in that landscape? It makes me want to grab my brushes and start pushing paint around to find out! This red house reminds me that every painter is in conversation with every other painter, across time, and through the act of painting itself. Let's not put too much pressure on trying to figure out what it all means. Instead, we can just celebrate that this artist made this, and we can see it now.
