Tadanori Yokoo made this print, Milk, and it’s just bursting with wild imagery, like a fever dream you can’t quite shake off. The color palette is so immediate, like it's shouting at you, a clash of high-key blues and reds against monochrome skulls. It feels like the act of making art is right there on the surface. The textures pull you in. There's a flatness to the milk figure, but then your eye hits the confetti pile. The colors on that surface are almost like a topographic map; following the lines up and down the pile. It’s a really physical thing, the way the colors bump up against each other. Yokoo reminds me of Sigmar Polke; that interest in pop culture and the way he slaps it all together on one surface. This piece isn't afraid to ask questions, to be messy, to embrace the chaos.
