This is Victor Vasarely’s ‘Carden’, and I’d say it was made with some kind of print process, maybe serigraphy. Look at the edges of those colours! When I look at this, I feel like my eyes are doing gymnastics. The way the colours push and pull is a testament to Vasarely’s understanding of how we see. It's not just about optics, it’s about the physicality of paint, or, in this case, ink. It's flat but manages to imply depth. The real trick lies in the surface. See how each square and diamond is so crisp, so flat? That controlled application contrasts wildly with the chaos of the overall composition. It’s like he's built this crazy, chaotic world out of really neat blocks. There’s something really intriguing about this contrast, this tension between order and disorder. Vasarely is a bit like Bridget Riley, or Albers – but with a touch of the psychedelic. He reminds us that art isn't just about representation; it's about making us see, think, and feel in new ways.
