Here we have Robert Frank’s strip of black and white photos, “Children and family 2”. I'm really drawn to the rawness of these images. It reminds me of early film experiments, where the process itself becomes part of the art. You know, the way the film strip borders are visible, the imperfections, the graininess - it's all so honest. I can imagine Robert Frank wandering around with his camera, just capturing life as it unfolded. I bet he wasn't thinking about perfection. He was chasing moments. It’s like when I'm painting and I just let the brush lead the way, not worrying about the outcome. What were his thoughts in this process? These family portraits feel very familiar, but also so strange. He's not afraid to show the gritty reality of everyday life. He lets the light fall where it may. It's like he's saying, "Here it is, the world in all its messy glory." I feel inspired to go make something new now. How about you?
