Biography
Joseph Ridgway Bridson was a British photographer who was active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He specialized in portraiture, and was known for his ability to capture the likenesses of his subjects with great detail and precision. Bridson was also an early adopter of new photographic technology, and was one of the first photographers to use the 4 x 5 size negative, which he felt was ideal for capturing the detail he sought. His work is notable for its sharp focus and realistic representation of his subjects, making him a valuable documentarian of his era. He is most known for his work on the portrait of the Duchess of York, which is a prime example of his skillful approach to portrait photography.
