Editor: Patrick Heron's "January 1973: 10" bursts with color! The shapes seem almost playful, like Matisse cutouts, but the overall effect is quite bold. How do you approach a piece like this? Curator: It's a visual feast, isn't it? The way Heron orchestrates these saturated colours reminds me of a jazz composition – improvisational yet tightly controlled. Do you feel a sense of harmony or dissonance in his arrangement? Editor: I think I sense a tension between the warm and cool tones, it makes it more dynamic! Curator: Precisely. Heron was fascinated by the interaction of colours and how they affect our perception of space. It's as if he's inviting us to participate in a visual dance, constantly shifting our focus. I wonder, what does the title make you think about? Editor: It makes me wonder if the colours were chosen to reflect a particular feeling about that time. I’ve really enjoyed thinking about how colour can express so much. Curator: Exactly, and perhaps Heron found something significant during that January.
